A couple of signs that Syifa had shown us:
i) She frequently rub her eyes.
ii) She easily despair when playing 'Spot the Different Games' and 'Hidden Object Games' - she had poor focusing.
iii) She had told us about her inability to see objects at a distance in classrooms.
iv) Tired sign when she came back from school.
v) She encountered frequent headaches.
vi) She experienced almost fainted in playground - perhaps due to sweltering conditions.
All of the above signs had triggered me to bring her for vision check-up. But as I said, I kept on delaying until eventually school's was having the screening.
Parents who wore eyeglasses or more precisely having eye problems, the tendency for their kids to have it too is high. In a review by Dr. Lowery (the chief of pediatrics at Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon), she mentioned that nearsightedness and farsightedness have a strong genetic component, especially if both parents are nearsighted or farsighted. Although, others may be influenced by environmental or other factors.
